Nick Codd
Chairman of the Board   

Nick grew up in Severna Park, his parents and grandparents on both sides resided in Severna Park. His grandfather had a drug store across from the train station in the 1920’s. He has a BS in Biology, but is a frustrated architect running an optical boutique. For the last 15 years he has run a successful event design business, which explains why you see him at every fabulous happening in the area. He loves being president of the SPCC. He and his partner Joe Rushton live in Linstead with their dog, Evan Weaver.

 

Brian Jamieson
Vice Chairman

Brian Jamieson lives in Old Severna Park with his wife, Sarah, and sons Marston and Clifford (13 and 11.) The Jamiesons have been avid users of the Severna Park Community Center since moving here from Michigan in 2002.  They enjoy swimming and playing basketball, and have also taken various lessons and classes at the Center. Brian is the founder of SB Microsystems, a Biomedical Engineering firm located in Columbia, MD. He is in his fifth year on the Board of Directors and is determined to help the center continue to grow in its mission to serve the entire greater Severna Park community.

 

Christine Marsala
Executive Director

Chris has been a Severna Park resident for the past 14 years.  She lives with her husband, Joe, and three children.  She has served as the Executive Director for 3 years.   Her kids enjoy gymnastics, swimming, martial arts, and summer camp!  The Severna Park Community Center is a great place to raise a family.  It provides a fun-filled positive environment that is difficult to find in many areas.  She works hard to make sure there are programs for everyone.

 

Lauren Boyd
Secretary

Lauren grew up in Severna Park and attended Severna Park High School.  Lauren is a Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch in Annapolis, the Club Director for Bay Area Volleyball Academy, and the JV Volleyball coach at Severna Park High School.  She is proud to be a Board Member for the Severna Park Community Center and believes it is the center piece of our wonderful Severna Park community.   She enjoys playing and coaching volleyball, scrapbooking, taking pictures, and traveling.

Carl Gutschick
Woods Church Head of Staff Representative

Carl has been involved with the Severna Park Community Center since its inception.  He lives in Arnold (Rugby Hall) with his wife Anita and has four children: Justin, Sean, Nathan, and Alex.  Carl is a partner in Gutschick, Little & Weber, a 49 person firm, specializing in engineering, surveying & landscape architecture.  He is a member of Woods Church and has been a Woodswork advisor 24 years.  His involvement with SPCC started in 1996 and has played many roles: volunteer, member of the Board of Directors, Chair of the Board of Directors, and Capital Campaign fundraising.  He enjoys tennis, bridge, fishing, and water sports.

Andy Borland

Andy has been the foundation to many aspects of the Severna Park community.  He has been a proud member of the community since the 1960’s.  He has been a teacher, coach, and mentor at Woods Church, the Severna Park Community Center, Severna Park High School, Severna Park Junior High School, and Green Hornets amongst others.  As a coach and Athletic Director, he affected the lives of many students in Severna Park.  He is one of the original members of the campaign to raise $4.5 million to build the Severna Park Community Center and is still active on the board today.  He is recognized in the community having the following spaces named in his honor:  the Andy Borland Weight Room at Severna Park High School (June 1997), the Andy  Borland Fieldhouse at Severna Park High School (March 2005), and the Andy Borland Gymnasium at the Severna Park Community Center (September 2008).  The Severna Park community is a better place because of the contributions by Andy Borland and his family.

 

Warren Paul Brockett

Warren Brockett lives with his wife and two year old son in Severna Park.  He is a Financial Advisor with Charter Financial Group, a Lincoln Financial affiliate.  He enjoys working on boats and believes that the Severna Park Commuunity Center is a key element to making Severna Park the kind of community we all want to be a part of.

 

Rob Collins

Rob Collins lives in Fairwinds with his wife, Alex, and their two children.  Rob is CEO of Suspension Orthopaedic Solutions, LLC (a medical device company) and is co-founder, with Alex, of Collins Technology Law.  After seeing the Severna Park Community Center finish its beautiful renovation, he joined the Board to help the Center become a focal point of Severna Park.   Rob and his family moved from Chicago in 2004 and have been enjoying Severna Park ever since.

Jeff Hall

Jeff has lived and worked in the Severna Park area for over 20 years with his wife Joanne. Jeff was married at and is a Member of Woods Church. After building homes in the area for many years, he began a construction company specializing in Design and Remodel.  Joanne works with him in the business, Villa Builders. He enjoys working with others in the Severna Park Community to build a secure, enduring, safe place for children to go and learn new and different things and share with others that is not a commercialized area.

 

Christine Hutcheson

Christine has been a resident of Severna Park for 14 years and is a member of Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church.  She is currently an Accountant with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in Washington D.C.  She has been a Board Member at the Severna Park Community Center for 3 years and part of the Fundraising Committee and Resource Development Committee.  Her hobbies include volleyball, boating, and snow skiing

Matthew Reed

A native of Michigan, Matt moved from Virginia to the Annapolis area almost a decade ago.  He became involved with the SP Community Center because of its mission to be a place of gathering and growth for the greater Broadneck community, and is proud to be a part of this great organization.  Matt lives in Arnold with his wife and two young children and worships at Woods Church.

Barbie Willis

Barbara Hottel Willis  Born and raised in Massachusetts.  She has been part of the Severna Park Community with her husband Dick and three sons for over 30 years.  Barbie has been an active member of Woods church for 30 years.  Founding Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Severna Park Assistance Network (SPAN); founding member of the Board of Directors of Ballet Theatre of Maryland; active with Marylanders Against Handgun Abuse (MAHA); appointed by Governor Glendenning to the Maryland Handgun Safety Advisory Committee.  Have been active with SPCC since its opening:  Created and still chair the Annual Spaghetti Dinner that benefits SPCC (11 yrs.); Member of the RDC (Resource Development Committee) since its inception.
